IndiGo will restore direct flights between Kolkata, India and Siem Reap beginning October 1, 2026, marking a return to a route that launched last fall but was temporarily halted due to seasonal considerations. The airline will operate three weekly services on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays using Airbus A320neo aircraft.

Officials from Cambodia's State Secretariat of Civil Aviation view the resumption as a significant opportunity to strengthen economic and cultural ties between the two nations. The route promises to open new possibilities for tourism development, religious pilgrimages, and commercial partnerships, with both countries expected to benefit from improved connectivity and collaborative tourism initiatives.

Siem Reap Angkor International Airport has confirmed its readiness to accommodate the returning service with full operational support. India represents the world's second-largest source of international tourists after China, and industry analysts anticipate the flight resumption will provide meaningful growth potential for Cambodia's tourism sector and bilateral trade.

Tourism data shows Cambodia welcomed approximately 71,000 Indian visitors during 2025, though numbers have declined in the current year. Currently, four domestic carriers and 29 international airlines operate flights within Cambodia. Air Cambodia continues to maintain the only other direct service connecting the region, operating between Phnom Penh and New Delhi.
